Components We Use
Rain Bird Controller Image
Rain Bird Controller: The controller is what is used to program your sprinkler system. It provides options to adapt which days to water, how much time per zone and what time the sprinkler system will start. This controller is usually installed inside the garage.
Rain Bird Valves
Rain Bird Valves: Valves are responsible for receiving the electric signal from the controller and opening to allow water to a specific zone. Each zone in your system will be controlled by an independent valve. If a system has 6 zones for example, that means there will be 6 independent valves installed.
Backflow Preventer Image
Backflow Preventer: The backflow preventer is responsible for preventing water from the sprinkler system from traveling backwards into your home water supply. All sprinkler systems in Texas are required to have some kind of backflow preventer. *Note: this part is what usually breaks during winter freezes. Ask your technician to show you how to drain the system during installation.
Rain Bird Pop Up Heads
Rain Bird Pop Up Heads: The heads are the components that come up after the valves allow the water to flow to a zone. Each zone can have from 4 -12 pop up heads. The water spray pattern will be constant water to a specific area.
Nozzles
Nozzles: The nozzles are what control how far and what pattern the water comes out at. These are installed at the top of each pop up head.
Rain Sensor Image
Rain Sensors: Sits outside, and Connects to the controller (inside) and automatically turns the sprinkler system off if it senses a certain amount of rain.
PVC Pipe Class 200 Image
PVC Pipe: Class 200 refers to the thickness of the pipe (most installations in the Houston area require class 200 pipe). The piping is responsible for transporting the water from one point to the next. The main line of the most common sprinkler systems is 1” in diameter, while the lateral lines are commonly ¾” in diameter.
Ball Valve
Ball Valve: Manual valve used to isolate the sprinkler system from the water going to the house. This valve needs to be in the open position for the sprinkler system to work. If closed, the sprinkler system will not receive any water. The valve is usually closed to:
• When work is going to be performed on the sprinkler system
• Freeze protection
Valve Box Image
Valve Box: used to store and locate sprinkler system valves in the ground. After the system is completed, the only visible part will be the green lid from the top.

Carlos was very informative from our initial conversation. He explained the product, process and price. The team marked our lawn as stated a few days earlier. The crew showed up slightly earlier than expected. This was good for me. The expected completion was two days. It was completed in one day. Tech explained how to use system and tested each zone with adjustments. Many payment options available. Easy pay transaction. No money up front. Paid in full when work was complete. It has not been 24 since installation. I will have to monitor performance.

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value I rarely leave reviews. But, I received exceptional irrigation repair service by Rhino Home Services. They corrected the design flaws and mistakes by the original contractor. The work was completed in one day and after repair, I barely can tell my Iawn was disturbed. It was easy to schedule the consultation and repair with Carlos. Julio and the crew arrived as scheduled. Once the repair was completed, they made sure each zone worked as intended -- ensured there was sufficent water coverage for each lawn zones -- walked me through each zone, and left all areas of my yard clean. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Rhino Home Services for irrigation install and repair.
